Secretlab NanoGen™ Hybrid Leatherette was born from our quest to develop a durable yet supple pure white material that could stand the test of time. We subjected NanoGen™ Hybrid Leatherette to accelerated exposure in a UV chamber, ensuring that it retains its rich appearance without yellowing.
A material evolutionOther companies settle for generic leatherette. We don’t. When we couldn’t find a leatherette that gave us what we needed, we created our own material in-house to ensure superior performance in every way. While our current leatherette upholsteries already surpass the performance of most leatherettes on the market, our quest to continually push the limits means we’re never satisfied.Over the past decade, our engineers have experimented with different leatherette compositions, studying the best attributes of each one and how to reproduce them in the same material.
2019The result of a 3-year research program with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) to develop a leatherette tailored for warm, humid tropical climates, PRIME™ Leatherette set a new industry benchmark for leatherette lifespan.
2021Regular PU leather peels because its middle foam layer absorbs moisture and gradually degrades due to hydrolysis. To avoid this, we stripped out the middle layer and reinforced the base layer with a bespoke 3D structure of ultra-fine polyester fibers, resulting in a massive leap forward in durability.
2024Employing the latest manufacturing technologies, we developed an advanced needle-point process to integrate ultra-dense nanofibers into both the surface and base layers, enhancing both softness and durability.
Thoughtfully craftedInnovation is baked into every layer of Secretlab NanoGen™ Hybrid Leatherette. Individual layers are engineered from the ground up — for a buttery-soft feel under the skin and durability that is second to none.
1. COATING FINISHAn advanced dye coating process bonds tightly to individual strands of ultra-fine nanofibers to create a lustrous finish with enhanced UV resistance.
2. SURFACE LAYERBuilding upon the resin top laminate in our NEO™ Hybrid Leatherette, specialty nanofibers are intertwined to further reinforce the leatherette and create a uniquely soft and plush layer with improved stain resistance.
3. BASE LAYERAdditional nanofibers are woven into a structure comprising 3D-reinforced polyester fibers for even greater strength, flex, and abrasion resistance.
